Shimron Odilon Hetmyer, born on 26 December 1996 in Cumberland, Guyana, is one of the most exciting young batsmen in Caribbean cricket. A naturally aggressive left-handed batsman, Hetmyer burst onto the international scene as a teenager and quickly became known for his ability to clear any boundary with ease.
Hetmyer captained the West Indies Under-19 team at the 2016 Under-19 World Cup and made his senior Test debut in 2017. He has represented the West Indies across all three formats and become a sought-after T20 franchise player around the world, featuring in the IPL for Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals, the CPL for Guyana Amazon Warriors, and leagues in Bangladesh and South Africa. His ability to accelerate an innings in the middle overs has made him one of the most valuable white-ball cricketers in the Caribbean.
From the county of Berbice — the same region that produced Kanhai, Butcher, and Chanderpaul — Hetmyer carries forward a proud tradition of Guyanese batsmanship.
Hetmyer represents the next generation of Guyanese cricket talent, following in the footsteps of Chanderpaul, Lloyd, and Kanhai. His fearless stroke-play has made him a fan favourite across the Caribbean and in T20 leagues worldwide.
